Shading and Sunlight Exposure

Hi everyone, im a beginner and i just wanna know if its okay to put bonsai outdoor but roofed up (Veranda) . it gets like 10-20% direct sunlight exposure but 80-90% indirect sunlight. bonsai species are Premna Microphylla, JBP, Juniperus Ittoigawa, Vitex Parviflora, Suamei, Philippine Holly, Vietnam Bluebell. should i use grow light along with the indirect sunlight its getting?

Not sure about all your species. But pines and junipers are full sun species that should be grown outdoors in full sun all the year.

Depending on the country you are in will determine where some of these species will be, most should be outside with no protection btu Premna are only just frost hardy and need a bit of protection so a greenhouse would be best. As Tropfrog said the Juniper and Pines are hardy, the last four I don't know

i have no choice but to put it outside every morning and bring it in at night. lets just hope it wont be stolen at day time. Im in the Philippines btw.

It is amazing that you can find temperate trees for sale in the philipines. Who is importing them and why? In any case, when you get problem with them, please ask the seller for advices.

Junipers are easy to propagate. but my juniperus ittoigawa was from china. along with my boxleaf. im waiting now for my jbp from china. my other bonsais are from local sources hehe sources here arent that quite pros on growing them and how they grow them. usually trial and error. thats why i joined this forum hahaha

I do not think we have anyone on the forum with experience in growing temperate trees in tropical regions. Some do grow tropical trees in temperate regions. But heating is so much cheaper than cooling.

Have you had success in propagating junipers yourself?

Yes! All the cuttings of my junipers almost 80% have survived from propagating hahahaha even small ones from stems to branches. i didnt even peel it. i just put it in a pot and leave it. we even made a mame forest of juniper cuttings and its doing great hahahaha
