FIrst Air Layering Attempt was created by coltranem

About a month ago I attempted to air layer a small flowering tree in my yard (sorry haven't ID's the species). So far I cannot see any roots in the moss but I didn't think I'd see any this early. Today I noticed the tree is back budding below the air layer. Is this a good sign or a bad sign? My instinct is that it is a good sign because it proves the tree has vigor but does that mean my air layer will be a success?
