What is wrong with my bonsai tree? was created by Duck_garden

Hello,

I wonder if anyone is able to identify what's on my tree and if there's anything I could do to help it please?

I've been away for a few weeks so she's looking a bit neglected, don't worry she's been watered now!

Thanks!

Looks like it's infested by Aphids.
Treat it with specific systemic insecticide making sure you spray it in the evening, out from the sun.

I am supriced that the tree is still alive after "a few" weeks without watering. Still looks very dry. I normally do not advice submersive watering. But in this case I think a good drink will be beneficial.

Yes, aphids or other pests may took the chanse to get a good meal out of it when it was weak.

@Ricky I see you live in Italy. What systemic pesticides can you find there for consumers? I think all of them is provibited to sell in all of EU except to licenced professional growers that use it indide a greenhouse. There are a good reason for that. People abuse their plants, get pests and spray things that kill polinators too. Without polinators no food production. I guess the politicians just thought that getting food on the table every day is more important than abusing ornament plants.

You can go after the bugs manually, which takes some time and would require repeating at least once a day. You can also spray with water and try to wash them away. Some people have good luck spraying with a weak soap or detergent solution.

As for watering, one time put it in the sink full of water and let it soak the soil. Then water it when the top of the soil is dry by spraying from above until water pours out of the holes in the bottom of the pot.
