My hand was itching to try the cutting technique out of JBP seedlings (in case you missed it in the thread, this is the procedure: bonsaitonight.com/2011/07/01/how-to-crea...japanese-black-pine/ ).
I have very much appreciated people’s advice to avoid it, but I’ve felt like I can pull it off with sufficient attempts.. and it worked

Posted 2 years 8 months ago #73211All 3 of my remaining JBP seem to be drying/withering out the bottom needles (see attached photos).
I am watering them once a day, with a well drained soil.
Am I doing something wrong?

They are outside, 24/7.

Posted 2 years 6 months ago #73951I’ve stopped fertilisation in September according to the Bonsai fertiliser bottle (NPK 4-3-9).
And I have been watering once a day, in the morning.
How do you guys proceed with watering and fertilisation during winter?

Posted 2 years 6 months ago #73952Concerning your fertiliser: there is absolutely no need to use bonsai fertiliser.Any regular all purpose fertiliser will do. Anything labeled "bonsai" is automatically more expensive. You have saplings, nothing to do with bonsai for the first 10-15 years anyway.
