When Can I repot my Brazilian Rain Tree? Seeing as it is considered an indoor tree, can it be repotted any time, or is there better times to do so. I am thinking about going pot shopping.... something to do during the week.

Brazilian Rain Trees are not indoor trees, they are deciduous or semi-deciduous on colder regions here in Brazil...
I understand that in Chicago, you might protect it a bit during winter.
But indoor tree... Idk.
You bought this tree a few months ago right?
I would wait spring, since they are exotic there..

In my understanding, the right time is always just before trees start to get active again.

But I hope someone that have this tree around there can tell you more about local care.

I have been growing BRT for 4 years now. I repot in summer when it is nice and warm.

@albas, how cold does it get in their native range? I took it as a tropical. But is it like Jabuticaba, near-frost resistent?

They are tropicals, but that doesn't mean they can be semi-deciduous/dec.

BRTs are more common on Northern States, very common in Rio de Janeiro for example, there, on winter temperatures will drop to around 20ºC (kind of hot), so BRTs will only go dormant, or shed partially their leaves... As we go for more Southern States, winters are colder, here for example it can reach around 0°C so they can shed all it's leaves, and bud back in late winter.

The mature BRTs I see on the streets here shed 100% cent of the leaves.
I took this picture on late winter, when I collected a few seeds and a branch for cuttings.
On the BRT's branch you can see the swollen buds, the whole trees were like that...

Reggarding to repot, on northern states where winters are hot I know they do any part of the year when the tree is growing... But on colder regions Spring/Summer should be ok...

Have you heard about the Dumosum sub-species?

can't*

Btw, Jabuticaba are more frost hardy than BRTs.
Curious fact is that bovines (and other animals) eat their pods, so it's kind of hard to find them, even because many we're cuttdown because their pod/seeds are abortive to the cattle, BRT's are an endangered species, not that easy to find.

But really, if what you are doing is working, don't change.
