I know they need very good draining soil, but I am hearing a bit of difference in the soils and would like to know more. So, I was under the impression that they use the Cactus and succulent soil. Jerome from Bonsai Supply says to use the Bonsai soil.
Any advice on this and if using the Bonsai supply what would you use for nutrients? There is much info out there that it spins my head. sorry.

I would welcome advice on this as I will be receiving a couple of Desert Roses from the Nursery this month-in the mail.

thank you.

I use pretty much the same soil mix for my succulents and my bonsai.

I find that every so often my succulent soil gets a bit compacted-what would cause that?

It is the organics that compacts. Just increase the non organic content next time repotting. Lava or pumice are good options.
